Mr. Patrick Nyaga

Mr. Patrick Nyaga is the Group Chief Executive Officer. He holds a master of Business Administration from Strathmore Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant (K) and a member of ICPAK. Mr. Nyaga has over 29 years of working experience mainly in banking and auditing. He has worked in various senior positions in banking. Prior to joining CIC Group Ltd, he was the Group Finance and Strategy Director- at Cooperative Bank of Kenya Limited.

He previously worked at Barclays Bank now (ABSA) as the Regional Head of Assurance and at KPMG (EA), with the main focus being the audit of financial institutions in Kenya and the region. He is a member of the Institute of Directors of Kenya and has undertaken training in several Corporate Governance courses including in Insurance Business.

Mr. James Njue

Mr. James Njue Njiru aged 53, is the director representing Eastern Region-based societies. He is the Chairman of the Nawiri Sacco Society. He is also a Director of Co-op Holdings Co-operative Society and the Cooperative Bank of Kenya Ltd. Mr. Njiru is a Board of Management member for various schools in the Eastern Region. He holds a diploma in Business Management from the Kenya Institute of Management.

Dan N Badebye

Mr. Badebye joined CIC General Insurance Uganda Ltd in 2022 and sits on the Audit Committee and Investment Committee. He is a partner at Bawunha and Badebye Certified Public Accountants and he is also the Director of Finance at Uganda Christian University.  With over 20 years’ experience, he has served as Director Finance and Administration of the Uganda Retirement Benefits Regulatory Authority, Head of Finance at National Drug Authority, Head of Support Services at Baylor – Uganda and Head of Finance at Uganda Management Institute.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce of Makerere University and a master’s degree in Business Administration jointly awarded by the East and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI) and Maastricht School of Management (MSM). He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), a Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) and graduate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators (ICSA).

Dan N Badebye serves on the Member Services Committee of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU). He also served as the Chairman Board of Directors of the CPA Cooperative Society Ltd.

Douglas Ndawula Kakyukyu

Douglas Ndawula Kakyukyu aged 46years joined the Board in 2022 as an Independent Non-Executive Director. He holds; a master’s degree in business administration (Project Planning and Management) of Makerere University, a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering (Hons) of Kyambogo University plus many other diplomas and professional certificates. He is a member of the Institute of Corporate Governance.

The Director has over 21 years’ experience in the fields of; strategic planning, policy formulation and implementation, management, engineering, manufacturing, health and safety management, human resources management, marketing and distribution, etc.

He has worked as a General Manager for Wavah Water Limited, and worked for; British American Tobacco Limited, Hima Cement Limited, Cotton Development Organization, Uganda Ginners and Cotton Exporters Association, Sugar Cooperation of Uganda and currently, he is the Chief Executive Officer of Soroti Fruits Limited, the makers of Teju Juices.

Mr. Sylivester Ndiroramukama

Mr. Sylvester Ndiroramukama is a Board Director, CIC General Insurance. He is the Chief Executive Officer for Uganda Cooperative Savings and Credit Union. He has got a wealth of experience in Research Methodologies, Product Development, Financial analysis and on spot Technical Assistance and Mentoring to SACCOs and microfinance.
Mr. Ndiroramukama has got hands on experience in project management and reporting skills, negotiation and communication skills, accounting and financial management skills.
Mr. Ndiroramukama has a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) Degree from Makerere University, Diploma in Microfinance from Uganda Institute of Bankers, Higher Diploma in Marketing from Uganda College of commerce Aduku, Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management (PGD-PPM) from Uganda Management Institute. He is a Certified Public Accountant of ICPAU. Pursuing a Masters in Management Studies (Project Planning and Management) at Uganda Management Institute.

Dr. Levi Kabagambe Bategeka

He is Procurement and supply Chain specialist with over 20 years industry experience. He holds a PhD in Business Administration (Global Business management) from the University of Nairobi, and MSc. (Marketing) and B.COM Degrees from Makerere University. Dr. Bategeka is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, UK (MCIPS-UK) and also a Certified Procurement Practitioner (CPP) of the Institute of Procurement Professionals of Uganda (IPPU). 

Prior to joining CIC General Insurance Uganda Ltd, Dr. Bategeka served on the Board of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) representing the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development of Uganda. While on the PPDA Board, he Chaired several committees, including the Advisory, Audit and risk, as well as the Human Resource. He has previously served on the Audit Committee of the Private Sector Foundation-Uganda (PSFU) and Senior Faculty and Head of Procurement and supply Chain Management Department and Quality Assurance Director at Makerere University Business School. He is the current Chairperson of the Council for the Institute of Procurement Professionals of Uganda (IPPU) and Secretary/Accounting Officer of Uganda National Institute for Teacher Education (UNITE). He is the current East African Region Vice President for Africa Supply Chain Confederation (SCON).

Monica Sanyu

Monica Sanyu is an accomplished Human Resources and Corporate Governance professional with over 20 years of experience in strategic leadership, organizational development, human capital management, and corporate governance. 

She currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of MP3 TalentSync Solutions Limited, a human capital and organizational transformation consultancy. She also serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director of UGAFODE Microfinance Limited (MDI) and as a Member of the Supervisory Board of St. Charles Lwanga Ntinda Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (SACCO).

Monica holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Human Resource Management from Oxford Brookes University, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor’s Degree from Makerere University. She is a Certified Balanced Scorecard Professional (BSP), a British Council Certified Trainer, and has undertaken executive development programmes, including Strategic Human Resource Development at INSEAD, and the Women in Leadership Programme at the Women’s World Banking Centre for Microfinance Leadership. In addition, she has also attended the Women on Boards Governance Training 

Over the course of her career, Monica has held several senior leadership positions across the financial services, telecommunications, and development sectors. Her previous appointments include Head of Human Resources at Ecobank Uganda, Head of Human Resources at Finance Trust Bank, Operations Lead at Financial Sector Deepening Uganda (FSDU), and a member of the founding executive team at Warid Telecom Uganda. In these roles, she provided strategic leadership in organizational development, talent management, governance, performance improvement, and business transformation.

She is a member of the Human Resource Managers’ Association of Uganda (HRMAU), The Boardroom Africa, and Women on Boards Network. Monica is passionate about advancing sound corporate governance, ethical leadership, organizational excellence, and sustainable growth.

Ms. Fiona Ssenoga

Ms. Fiona Ssenoga serves as Chairperson of the Audit Committee of CIC General Insurance (Uganda) Limited. She is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA, UK), a Certified Public Accountant with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Makerere University. She is also a member of ACCA, ICPAU, and the Institute of Internal Auditors Uganda.

She brings more than sixteen years of progressive leadership experience spanning risk management, corporate governance, process improvement, internal audit, and internal controls. Ms. Ssenoga is currently the Group Head of Internal Audit and Control at Ignite Energy Access, following senior leadership roles across the FMCG sector in Africa, Uganda’s banking sector, and the Energy sector in Africa.

Mr. James Kinyua

James Kinyua is the Managing Director of CIC Africa (Uganda) Limited. He has over 15 years of experience in the insurance and financial services sector. He possesses strong expertise in business development, market expansion, operational excellence, and strategic leadership.

Prior to assuming his current role, James held various leadership roles within CIC Group where he played an instrumental role in advancing strategic initiatives, strengthening distribution channels, and enhancing operational performance. Earlier in his career, he gained valuable industry experience working with ICEA LION Group and Unaitas Sacco, where he held roles responsible for delivering value to customers and stakeholders.

James holds a Bachelor of Economics and Finance from Kenyatta University and is currently a finalist pursuing a Master’s in Economics Policy Management at the University of Nairobi. He also holds a Diploma in Insurance from the College of Insurance and is an Associate Member of the Insurance Institute of Kenya (IIK) as well as a member of the Institute of Directors of Kenya.

Maguru Oryeteisa James

James holds a Master of Business Administration, specializing in Insurance Management, from Amity University; a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Makerere University; and a Diploma in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK). He is also an Associate Member of the Insurance Training College of Uganda and a member of both the Non-Life Committee and the Tax Advisory Committee of the Uganda Insurers Association.

James brings to CIC a wealth of experience in insurance spanning over 20 years. Prior to this appointment, James served as General Manager/ Principal Officer a promotion earned after serving as an Underwriting Manager at Old Mutual Insurance Uganda Limited. Before that, he held several roles at AIG Uganda, including Manager – Property, Energy and Marine Department; Head of Chartis Combined; and Underwriter –
Accident and Health.

Joselyn Arinaitwe

Joselyn Arinaitwe is a seasoned insurance professional with over 12 years of experience in claims management and leadership within the insurance industry. She currently serves as the Claims Manager at CIC General Insurance Company Ltd, where she oversees claims operations and ensures efficient service delivery to clients.

From December 2023 to April 2024, Joselyn held the position of Acting Chief Executive Officer at CIC General Insurance, providing strategic leadership and guiding the company through a transitional period.

Prior to joining CIC, she worked at ICEA General Insurance in various roles where she gained extensive expertise in claims handling and customer service.

Joselyn is a proud member of the Insurance Training College (ITC) and continues to contribute to the growth and professionalism of the insurance sector in Uganda.

Afuswa Nakaweesi

Afuswa Nakaweesi Kigongo, aged 36, is a dynamic and results-oriented Medical Claims and Care Manager with over 15 years of leadership experience in the medical insurance industry, combined with clinical expertise as a medical Clinical officer. She has a proven track record in driving operational efficiency, digital transformation, and cost optimization across medical and insurance operations, claims management, and underwriting.

She holds a diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community Health and is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, as well as a diploma in Insurance.

Pheonah Tusiime

Ms. Pheonah Tusiime is a dynamic People & Culture Manager with extensive expertise in designing and implementing HR systems, processes, policies, and strategic initiatives that enable organizations to achieve their objectives. She joined CIC in January 2018 as the HR & Administration Manager. She is a member of the Human Resource Managers Association of Uganda (HRMAU) and has over 15 years of managerial and strategic leadership experience in human capital management, including the development and implementation of HR systems, policies, and procedures.

Pheonah completed her Master of Business Administration at Makerere University and is awaiting graduation in 2027. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management

Hannington Kyogula

Mr. Hannington Kyogula is an accomplished governance and legal professional with over a decade of progressive experience spanning corporate governance, financial services, insurance, employment law, commercial advisory, and regulatory compliance. He joined CIC in January 2024 as Company Secretary and Legal Manager, bringing with him a distinguished track record of strengthening governance structures and advancing institutional legal excellence.

A Chartered Governance Professional, Advocate of the High Court of Uganda, and Commissioner for Oaths, Hannington is highly regarded for his depth of expertise in board advisory, corporate compliance, and strategic legal leadership. He is a Member of the Chartered Governance Institute (UK & Ireland), the Uganda Law Society, and the East Africa Law Society.

Hannington holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) from Makerere University, a Chartered Secretary and governance qualification from the Chartered Governance Institute (UK & Ireland), a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre (Kampala), and a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Kampala International University

Sharon Nahabwe

Sharon Nahabwe brings over 23 years of professional experience in the cooperative sector, with the last three years dedicated to insurance for cooperatives as Head of Cooperatives at CIC Insurance. She joined CIC Insurance in 2023 from Bushenyi District Local Government, where she served as Principal Commercial Officer.Her career began in 2003 at Kyamuhunga Peoples SACCO (KYAPS) as a Banking Assistant. Over the years, she rose through the ranks to become General Manager, a position she held for five years. Sharon’s extensive background in cooperative management and financial services has equipped her with deep expertise in strengthening cooperative institutions and advancing financial inclusion.

She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from Uganda Management Institute and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting and Finance) from Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi

Lydia Matuli

Lydia Matuli is the General Manager – Business Development, CIC Africa (U) Ltd, with over 10 years of leadership experience in Life and General insurance. In her current role, she leads strategy execution, marketing, and distribution channel expansion across CIC Uganda entities, with responsibility for optimizing a multi-channel distribution model spanning agency, bancassurance, brokers, branches, corporates, and alternative partnerships.

She has held senior business development roles across leading insurance institutions in Uganda, including CIC Africa Life Assurance, Britam Life Assurance, ICEA Life Assurance, and Sanlam Life Uganda, building deep expertise in growth strategy, partnership development, sales leadership, operations alignment, and customer experience improvement.

Lydia is recognized for setting up and scaling bancassurance distribution, strengthening retail networks, improving operational efficiency, and driving service excellence through training and process improvement. She holds a Diploma in Insurance from the Insurance Training College of Uganda and a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Makerere University.

Peter Odero

Mr. Peter Odero is a seasoned Operations Manager with wide experience in strategies formulation and implementation, internal control implementation & monitoring, operations efficiency and financial management. He joined CIC Group in March 2025 and transition to CIC Africa Uganda in February 2026 as the Head of Operations. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Kenya (ICPAK) and has over 5 years of strategic leadership & external audit experience in Operations management, including the development and implementation of Standard operations procedures, policies, and internal controls.

Peter Graduated with a Degree in Human Resource Management from The Jomo Kenya University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) 2021.
