Dr. Nelson Kuria

Dr. Nelson Kuria aged 67, Joined the Board in the year 2020 as an Independent Non- Executive Director. He holds a BA in Economics, MA in Leadership studies and an Executive Leadership training from Stanford Business School. The Director has 36 years of experience in development finance and insurance. He entered the insurance industry in 1982 through Kenya National Assurance Company as an assistant Manager in charge of Research and rose to the position of Chief Manager General Insurance Division and later also served as the General Manager in Gateway insurance Company. He was the CIC Insurance Group CEO from 2011 to 2015. Dr. Kuria is currently the Chairman of Smep Microfinance, Enwealth Financial Service and African International University Council. He is also a Board Member of Kenyatta National Hospital, Habitat for Humanity and Kenya Society of Professional Co-operators

CPA Derick Nkajja

CPA Derick Nkajja aged 50 a Director seconded by the Uganda Cooperative Saving and Credit Union (UCSCU). He is a Certified Public Accountant, a member of ICPAU. He is also the sitting Chief Executive Officer and Secretary to the Council of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).

CPA Nkajja serves on the Finance Committee of the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda (ICGU). He is the Board Treasurer of Uganda Cooperative Savings & Credit Union Ltd. He also serves on the Trade Committee of the Private Sector Foundation of Uganda.

Previously, CPA Nkajja served as the Chairperson of Franciscan Investment Cooperative (FIC SACCO), one of the vibrant SACCOs in Uganda. He represented the African Continent on the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) Compliance Advisory Panel (CAP) for a period of six (6) years. He served on the founding Board of the Pan Africa Federation of Accountants (PAFA), representing the Eastern Africa region.

Before Joining ICPAU, he was a Finance Manager at Capital Radio Limited in Uganda, a media group with interests both in Uganda and Kenya.

He holds a Master of Business Administration of Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University UK, a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) of Makerere University and a Diploma in Business Studies.

Christine Kawasiima

Christine holds an upper second-class degree in Economics from Makerere University, an MBA (Finance) degree from the University of Leicester and is a fellow of the ACCA.

Christine has 21 years’ experience in external and internal audit. She began her career at Pride Africa a Microfinance Institution, and later joined Ernst & Young Kampala where she worked for close to 4 years before joining Uganda Management Institute (UMI) as Chief Internal Auditor.

She was a board member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Uganda and ACFODE during the period 2009 and 2011. She also served as a co-opted member of the Audit Committee of Busitema University (2011-2016). She was a non-executive Director at Tropical Bank Limited (2018 to 2020) and also served on the CPA SACCO Board as Vice Chairperson during the period 2018 to 2021. Christine is currently an independent non-executive Director of Vision Fund Uganda.

She is a member of professional bodies including the Institute of Internal Auditors, ICPAU and the ACCA. She is also a member of the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda, the League of East African Directors and is a Rotarian

Diana Nabukenya

Diana was appointed an Independent Non-Executive Director for CIC Africa Insurance effective February 2022. She is a 37 years Old Ugandan national with a strong background in commercial, marketing and strategy in corporate FMCGs, renewable energy and M/E commerce.
She has led businesses and teams for over 14 years.  Having lived and worked in 5 countries in Africa, she knows the continent well.
Diana is currently Country Director for Copia in Uganda. She was responsible for setting up Copia Uganda’s operations – their  first International market and is now accelerating growth in Uganda.
She holds a Masters in Business Administration from Edinburgh Business school Scotland, Bachelor’s degree in Tourism from Makerere University, Uganda and is currently Pursuing her Project management Professional(PMP) from Project management Institute , USA.
Diana is a member of Maishabora sacco Kenya, Uganda Golf club and Entebbe Golf club.

Alinaffe Kalule

Alinaffe Kalule has vast experience in financial services and corporate governance.

His executive experience includes serving as Executive Director in the central bank of Uganda and as a chief executive office of an insurance company.   His corporate governance experience includes serving as a chairperson of the board of a financial services regulatory authority, a board member of a commercial bank, and a governing council member of Uganda Management Institute.  He is also a former executive member of the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda.

He holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Diploma in Insurance.

Robert H. Baldwin

Robert has served over 20 years in senior leadership positions in the financial services industry.  He is the CEO of Crested Capital, a licensed investment advisor and leading stockbroker in Uganda’s capital markets. Robert has advised several publicly listed and private company Boards, contributing to investment management, corporate governance, risk management, regulatory compliance, and strategic planning.   He also served on the Board of the Uganda Securities Exchange and is currently a member of the Fixed Income Market Committee of the Bank of Uganda.

Robert holds a MSC Master of Science in Finance and Financial Law, Banking, Corporate Finance, and Securities Law from SOAS University of London and a BSBA from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

Sylvia Namande

She holds profound skills and expertise in Insurance operations of Underwriting, Claims Management, Reinsurance operations, business development through Strategic engagement and analytical applications of data applications to drive product development among other insurance development

Sylvia Namande

Ritah Kobwikizo

Ms. Ritah Kobwikizo aged 38, is the Head of Distribution – Retail at CIC Life Uganda Limited. She has extensive experience in insurance sales and distribution, having previously served as Regional Sales Manager at Sanlam Life Insurance. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation, a Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, a Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance, and is currently pursuing a Diploma in Insurance. Ms. Kobwikizo is a results-driven leader who prioritizes team success and is  an active member of the Uganda Insurance Agents Association.

Pheonah Tusiime

Ms. Pheonah Tusiime is a dynamic People & Culture Manager with extensive expertise in designing and implementing HR systems, processes, policies, and strategic initiatives that enable organizations to achieve their objectives. She joined CIC in January 2018 as the HR & Administration Manager. She is a member of the Human Resource Managers Association of Uganda (HRMAU) and has over 15 years of managerial and strategic leadership experience in human capital management, including the development and implementation of HR systems, policies, and procedures.

Pheonah completed her Master of Business Administration at Makerere University and is awaiting graduation in 2027. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from the Uganda Management Institute (UMI) and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Makerere University.

Hannington Kyogula

Mr. Hannington Kyogula is an accomplished governance and legal professional with over a decade of progressive experience spanning corporate governance, financial services, insurance, employment law, commercial advisory, and regulatory compliance. He joined CIC in January 2024 as Company Secretary and Legal Manager, bringing with him a distinguished track record of strengthening governance structures and advancing institutional legal excellence.

A Chartered Governance Professional, Advocate of the High Court of Uganda, and Commissioner for Oaths, Hannington is highly regarded for his depth of expertise in board advisory, corporate compliance, and strategic legal leadership. He is a Member of the Chartered Governance Institute (UK & Ireland), the Uganda Law Society, and the East Africa Law Society.

Hannington holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) from Makerere University, a Chartered Secretary and governance qualification from the Chartered Governance Institute (UK & Ireland), a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre (Kampala), and a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Kampala International University.

Lydia Matuli

Lydia Matuli is the General Manager – Business Development, CIC Africa (U) Ltd, with over 10 years of leadership experience in Life and General insurance. In her current role, she leads strategy execution, marketing, and distribution channel expansion across CIC Uganda entities, with responsibility for optimizing a multi-channel distribution model spanning agency, bancassurance, brokers, branches, corporates, and alternative partnerships.

She has held senior business development roles across leading insurance institutions in Uganda, including CIC Africa Life Assurance, Britam Life Assurance, ICEA Life Assurance, and Sanlam Life Uganda, building deep expertise in growth strategy, partnership development, sales leadership, operations alignment, and customer experience improvement.

Lydia is recognized for setting up and scaling bancassurance distribution, strengthening retail networks, improving operational efficiency, and driving service excellence through training and process improvement. She holds a Diploma in Insurance from the Insurance Training College of Uganda and a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Makerere University.

Peter Odero

Mr. Peter Odero is a seasoned Operations Manager with wide experience in strategies formulation and implementation, internal control implementation & monitoring, operations efficiency and financial management. He joined CIC Group in March 2025 and transition to CIC Africa Uganda in February 2026 as the Head of Operations. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Kenya (ICPAK) and has over 5 years of strategic leadership & external audit experience in Operations management, including the development and implementation of Standard operations procedures, policies, and internal controls.

Peter Graduated with a Degree in Human Resource Management from The Jomo Kenya University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) 2021.

Sophiah Namale

She is an accomplished financial services professional with over 13 years of progressive experience in sales, business development, agency management, recruitment, training and sales force development across Uganda’s banking and life insurance sectors.

Sophiah began her professional career at Stanbic Bank Uganda, where she gained a strong foundation in direct sales, workplace banking, customer acquisition, relationship management and business development. She subsequently transitioned into the life insurance industry, holding sales leadership and agency management positions at UAP Old Mutual Life Assurance and ICEA Lion Assurance.

Before joining CIC Life Insurance Uganda, Sophiah served at Jubilee Life Insurance Uganda, where she played a significant role in agency recruitment, onboarding, sales training and talent development. Her work contributed to the expansion of agency manpower, improved sales force productivity and the development of structured training and performance support programmes for insurance advisors and agency leaders.

In her current role as Recruitment & Training Manager – Business Development at CIC Africa Life Assurance Ltd, Sophiah is responsible for driving strategic talent acquisition, strengthening agency manpower, overseeing structured onboarding and professional development, and implementing recruitment and training initiatives aligned with the company’s business growth objectives. She works closely with agency leadership to build a productive, competent and sustainable sales distribution network.

Sophiah holds a Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies (Honours) from Makerere University and a Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance from the Insurance Institute of Uganda.

Lindah Naluyinda Mago

Lindah is a strong Sales and Distribution leader with extensive experience in sales force development, business growth, talent development and strategic execution within the insurance industry.

Having worked with both Jubilee Life and Old Mutual Life businesses, she brings a strong track record of building high-performing sales teams, strengthening distribution channels, improving productivity and driving sustainable business performance.

Her experience also spans Bancassurance development, strategic partnerships, leadership development and sales capability building. Lindah is passionate about developing people and culture change management.

She holds a Diploma in Insurance, in which she was recognised as the 2nd-Best student in her class, with a specialisation in Human Resource Management.

She is a multi Performance Award Winner and a recognized Culture Champion.

As Head of Sales, she hopes to build a people-centred leadership approach, a growth mindset and a commitment to building sustainable, high-performing sales teams.

John Paul Otadoker

John Paul Otadoker is a seasoned insurance professional with over 10 years of industry experience spanning underwriting, risk management, portfolio oversight, product development, and pensions administration. His expertise covers both retail and corporate insurance, with a strong focus on sound risk assessment and effective underwriting practices.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from Makerere University, an Advanced Diploma in Insurance from the United Kingdom, and a Diploma in Insurance from the Insurance Training College of Uganda. He is also a Chartered Pensions Analyst and is currently pursuing a dual Master of Business Administration (MBA) at ISBAT University.

As Underwriting Manager, John is instrumental in driving effective underwriting strategies, strengthening risk evaluation processes, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting the development of competitive insurance products. He combines analytical insight, technical knowledge, and industry experience to promote responsible risk selection and sustainable business growth.
